11/14/85 STATEMENT OF COMMISSIONER LANDO W. ZECH, JR During my site visit to the Perry plant on Tuesday, November 12, 1985, I am advised that I may have inadvertently received an improper communication under 10 CFR 2.780 of our Rules of Practice although I deliberately and conscientiously attempted to avoid any kind of comment even remotely related to contested issues.

During my tour by the Perry diesels, I recall comments being made regarding diesel reliability and the amount of diesel testing.

I expressed the view that perhaps testing should be reduced. As I recall, a ifcensee employee commented that diesels are reliable in general.

No other communication occurred concerning this or any other contested issue in the proceeding.
