This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. K. R. Naidu of this office on August 26 and 27, 1985 of your Rochester, New York facility and to the discussions of our findings with Mr. A. W. Engbrecht of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
This inspection was made to review documents related to the certificate of conformance issued to Portland General Electric for the square root extractors supplied to Trojan nuclear power plant, and to verify actions taken to evaluate a potential defect related to drift in an undervoltage relay setpoint.
Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the enclosed report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of an examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observa-tions by the inspector.
The results of the inspection indicate that the square root extractors supplied to Trojan nuclear power plant were manufactured under an acceptable quality assurance program and that you have initiated appropriate corrective action on the 10 CFR Part 21 defect relative to the type PR-2035 undervoltage relays.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
