Since Matthew Gordon's resignation from the U.

S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission in September of 1985, I have.been reviewing the technical progress under FIN 87372.

Based on my review of your Thirty-ninth Monthly Progress Report (September 1985) and my conversations with Mr. Gordon, the work performed under the contract is fully satisfactory.

I received the paper and microfiche copies of your " Statistical Evaluation of Additional Hydrochemical Data from the Saddle Mountains, Wanapum, and Grande Ronde Basalts, Basalt Waste Isolation Project, Hanford Site" during the month of October.

This assessment will aid NRC's evaluation of recent hydrochemical modeling by BWIP.

The action taken by this letter is considered to be within the scope of the current contract NRC-02-82-044.

It does not authorize changes to cost or delivery of contracted services and products.

Please notify me immediately if you believe that this letter would result in changes to cost or delivery of contracted products.
