SUBJECT:
SURVEILLANCE INTERVAL FOR EXCESS FLOW CHECK VALVES The purpose of this nemorandum is to request the assistance, en a consulting basis, of one of the nenbers of your branch, Mr. Joel Page, in the review of a proposed change to the Limerick Technical Specifications.
The Philadelphia Electric Company has recently indicated that it plans to request a change to the Limerick Technical Specifications that.tould permit a one time extension of the interval for testing of the instrumentation line excess ficw check valves. The extension would be for about four months urtil the plant would be otherwise shutdown due to a lack of cooling water. This would enable the plant to operate while cooling water is available.
In onjer to process the application prior to expiration of the Technical Specification LC0 in mid-February 1986 we nust neet with-the licensee on Tuesday, December 17 to identify the information that should be submitted with the amend-ment request. fir. Page's assistance would be very useful to us in that meeting.
I anticipate that the total resource requirqment from Mr. Page for the complete effort through mid-February 1986 is no more than three work days. The Project Manager, R. E. Martin, and the BWR Engineering Branch will be responsible for the preparation of the license amendment package.
