Dear Mr. Denton:

On October 8, 1985, I wrote to you indicating UCLA's intention to proceed with the first phase of dismantling our old Argonaut reactor, using our own staff supplemented by a few temporary workers. That letter also contained much preliminary information relative to projected personnel radiation exposures, disposition of low level radioactive materials, organizational structure, measured radiation levels, etc.

We have now formalized our plans and put all of the necessary information into the format recommended in " Guidance and Discussion of Requirements for an Application to Terminate a Non-Power Reactor Facility Operating License". Please note that the attached plan represents only the first phase of the dismantling operation and includes as a final step the submission of a formal plan for achieving ultimate decommissioning of the facility.
