STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING ON MILLSTONE BY 2

NORTHEASP UTILITIES AND NRC, 10:00 A.M., j THURSDAY, JANUARY 30, 1997, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC  ;

ATTENDANCE)

The Commission was briefed by Northeast Utilities and the NRC  ;

staff on the status at Millstone. The Commission requested )

quarterly briefings on the progress and readiness to restart of  !

the Millstone units. The subsequent briefings should contain  !

more detail and a finalized list of restart issues. In a future l briefing, the Commission requested additional details on the  !

Quality Assurance organization and role at the site. The i Commission encouraged the staff to work closely with the licensee to finalize a list of restart issues and develop a preliminary timeline with significant milestones annotated for each of the units.
