SUBJECT:

INSPECTION REPORT NO. 70-687/84-05

Dear Mr. Martin:

This is in response to your letter dated July 31, 1985, which we received on August'16,1985.

. We are in agreement with your example of possible grouping of functions to be audited during every twelve month period.

Our current audit program is designed to cover all of the major functions indicated in your example.

In all future audits, we will expand the documentation so that it more fully reflects the full scope of the audit.

With regard to the assignment of individuals to perform audit functions, we agree to be more attentive to the requirement that auditors do not audit functions that are part of their work responsibility.

With a limited number

~

of staff knowledgeable in this area it is sometimes difficult to obtain complete separation.

In all future. audits, we will be more selective to assure that.the auditor has no responsibility for the function being audited.

Very truly yours, 1
