DPR-42 50-306 DPR-60 Revision to the Request for Authorization to Utilize ASME Bo;ter & Pressure Vessel Code Case N-521 We have previously requested authorization to utilize ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Case N-521, " Alternative Rules for Deferral of Inspections of Nozzle-to-Vessel Welds, inside Radius Sections, and Nozzle-to-Safe End Welds of a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) Vessel,Section XI, Division 1", during the Prairie Island Third Ten Year Inservice inspection Interval for both Units 1 and 2. We had sought authorization for only the nozzle-to-vessel welds and the int.:de radius sections for the outlet nozzles.
We now request that the inside radius sections be excluded from the request for authorization. Thus, the authorization being sought is now only applicable to the nozzle-to-vessel welds for the reactor vessel outlet nozzles. For this reason, we are not responding to the Request for Additional Information, dated January 15,1997 because the questions are all related to the inside radius sections.
in this letter we have made no new Nuclear Regulatory Commission commitments.
