The purpose of this modification is to (1) shorten the project title.

(2) increase the contract ceiling by $650.000 from $4.049.416 to $4.699.41 (3) provide incremental funding in the amount of $650.000 which increases the obligated amount from $3.635.000 to 54.285.000. (4) revise Task 5 under subsection C.1.3.5 for a within scope change, and (5) extend the period of performance.

The contract is therefore modified as follows:

Section B.1. PROJECT TITLE is shortened from " Confirmatory Integral System Testing for the GE SBWR Design" to " Confirmatory Integral System Testing."

Section B.3 CONSIDERATION AND OBLIGATION--COST REIMBURSEMENT (JUN 1988) is deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:

This modification arovides for a within scope change to the Statement of Work in accordance wit 1 the contractor's proposal dated November 15, 1996. As a result, the following change is hereby made to subsection C.1.3.5. Scope of j

Revise Task 5 under Phase III in accordance with the attached modification to l

Section F.6. DURATION OF CONTRACT PERIOD (MAR 1987) is deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following:

Revise the Contract No. NRC-04-93-049. dated July 26. 1993, to reflect the revision to Task 5 identified below.

The separate effects test outcomes need 1

further validation in order to reach definite conclusions.

Task 5 Perform the following separate-effects tests:

(1) single-phase natural circulation tests in the RPV. a total of approximately 10 tests by varying j

core power. pressure. temperature, water level, and heat sink (ICS): (2) two-j phase natural circulation tests in the RPV a total of approximately 20 tests and (3) SRV condensation in the sup)ression pool tests, a total of i

approximately 10 tests by varying t1e steam pressure, temperature flow rate, and suppression pool water temperature.

Perform analysis of the test results.

This work was initiated on December 30, 1996 and should be completed by December 29. 1997.

Submit a letter report detailing the results of the analysis of the test results.
