Gentlemen:

In accordance with our commitment documented in our Confirmatory Order dated June 12, 1984, we are providing the Summary Report for the Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR) of the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 Nuclear Power Plant.

The Summary Report describes the methods used to carry out the DCRDR Program Plan dated September 27, 1983 and in response to the NRC In-progress Audit Report.

The DCRDR findings are summarized and priorities identified for the corrective actions in the Summary Report.

The recommended corrections identified in the Summary Report were determined to provide the most appropriate resolutions based on human engineering principles and assessment by the DCRDR Team.

It should be noted that certain corrective actions, upon a detailed engineering evaluation, may be found to conflict with other design requirements such as train separation, 10CFR50 Appendix R, etc.

In such

cases, the corrective actions may be revised or alternate actions may be required.

Notwithstanding, it is the intent of Duquesne Light Company to implement alternate resolutions according to the priority schedule originally provided in the Summary Report.

Very truly yours, h52180123851129 Care OI F
