Dear Mr. Denton:
Inspection and Enforcement Bulletin 85-02 requires that various measures be taken by licensees that have not yet implemented the actuation of the reactor trip breaker shunt trip coil on all automatic reactor trip signals. As indicated in our submittal AEP:NRC:0962, dated-November 6, 1985, we installed the auto shunt trip modification in Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 2 following our trip event of October 29, 1985 (that trip event being the subject of IE Bulletin 85-02) and prior to Unit 2 restart. The auto shunt trip modification had already been implemented in Unit 1.
The interim results of our investigation into the cause of the UVTA failures were provided in our submittal AEP:NRC:0962B, dated November 27, 1985. As we stated in that letter, the' final results of that investigation are expected to be available by January 31, 1986.
This document has'been prepared following Corporate procedures which incorporate a reasonable set of controls to insure its accuracy and completeness prior to signature by the undersigned.
