Dear Mr. Youngblood:

'In the Matter of

)

Docket Nos. 50-327 Tennessee Valley Authority

)

50-328 By the August 1,.1985 letter from R. H. Shell to E. Adensam, we transmitted notification of licensing unit.1 cycle 4 operation of our Sequoyah Nuclear Plant-(SQN) pursuant to 10 CFR 50.59.

Unit I was shut.down on August 22, 1985 as a result of concerns for environmental qualification of equipment at SQN.

Because of the shutdown before the analyzed window, the cycle 4 reload core design-was reanalyzed in accordance with the methodology documented in the WCAP-9273 dated March 1978,

" Westinghouse Reload Safety Evaluation Methodology." A detailed review of the Westinghouse methodology, analysis techniques and results has been performed by the technical-staff within TVA.

The revised SQN unit 1 Reload Safety Evaluation-(RSE) for cycle 4 operation has also been reviewed by the SQN Plant Operations Review Committee (PORC).

The unit I cycle 4 reload core has been evaluated pursuant to 10 CFR 50.59 and a determination has been made that no unreviewed safety questions exist. Accordingly, no review of RSE for unit 1 cycle 4 operations is being requested.
