SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-498/97-14; 50-499/97-14
Dear Mr. Cottle:
From March 24-28,1997, an NRC inspection was conducted at your South Texas Project
Electric Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, reactor facility. The enclosed report presents
the scope and results of that inspection.
Your land vehicle control program, including the vehicle barrier system, its bomb blast
analysis, and procedure controls was examined during this inspection. We determined that
your land vehicle control program for the protection of malevolent use of vehicles was in
accordance with regulatory requirements. Other aspects of your physical security program
were also inspected.
Your vehicle barrier system was found to be effective and installed as described in your
physical security plan and associated safeguards documents.
The material enclosed herewith contains Safeguards information as defined by 10 CFR Part 73.21 and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals is prohibited by Section 147
of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended. Therefore, the material will not be placed
in the Public Document Room.
