20555 Attention:
Edward Butcher, Acting Chief Operating Reactors Branch 3 Gentlemen:
DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 REVISION OF SCHEDULE FOR RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER NO. 85-12 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 Wisconsin Electric Power Company is revising its schedule to submit the information requested in Section.IV of the Safety Evaluation enclosed with Generic Letter No. 85-12 dated June 28, 1985.
Generic Letter No. 85-12 pertains to implementation of TMI Action Plan Item II.K.3.5, " Automatic Trip of Reactor Coolant Pumps", which requires all licensees to consider solutions, other than automatic reactor coolant pump trip, to reduce the severity of a small break loss-of-coolant event.
In a [[letter::L-83-100, Responds to 850628 Generic Ltr 85-12 Re TMI Action Plan Item II.K.3.5, Automatic Trip of Reactor Coolant Pumps. SECY-82-475 & Generic Ltr 83-10 Provide Issue Resolution. Generic Ltr 83-10d Info to Be Submitted by 860131|letter dated August 16, 1985]] (VPNPD-85-260; ~ NRC-85-32) Wisconsin Electric committed to submit the information by January 31, 1986.
On September 12, 1985 the NRC sent a letter to Wisconsin Electric requesting that the information be submitted before January 31, 1985.
The NRC expected a partial submittal within 90 days of receipt of Generic Letter No. 85-12 (October 7, 1985) and the remainder of the submittal within 150 days of receipt of Generic Letter No. 85-12 (December 6, 1985).
A discussion with Messrs. Tim Colburn and Ed Throm of the NRC on September 24, 1985 clarified the scope of the information requested and reduced the anticipated effort to allow preparation of a full response earlier than originally estimated.
As a result, although a partial response by October 7, 1985 is not practicable, Wisconsin Electric will submit the complete response by %cember 6, 1985. w w ww w
