SUBJECT:
Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 I
Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-29 1996-1997 Pre-SALP Assessment GNRO-97/00033 Gentlemen:
The NRC SALP process provides Grand Gulf with a convenient opportunity to perform a retrospective review of overall site performance. While it is Grand Gulf policy to continually conduct self-assessments focused along departmental and functional lines, we have traditionally reserved the period at the end of a SALP cycle to perform an integrated review.
The enclosed report provides the results of just such an integrated review. The information contained within this report provides the basis for the April 24,1997 1
presentation to the Region IV staff. However, it is extremely difficult in a two hour presentation to adequately cover all the initiatives that are either underway or recently completed at Grand Gulf during our current SALP period. Thus, this report i
provides us with an additional opportunity to share with the NRC the many performance' initiatives underway at Grand Gulf.
We believe it is appropriate to provide the NRC with a broader information base than may be available through inspection Reports and other docketed correspondence.
We hope you will find the enclosed useful and informative.
Yours truly, j
G0093 fMO !
