I li (1) ffodel No.: Tungsten-Shielded Cask I I

1l (2) Description l f 'L li The packaging consists of a right circular cylinder with a henispherical l gl l botton. It has a maxinun outside diameter of 16 inches at the hast. I It The cask itself has an outside diameter of 8 inches. The nverall l l height is 15-1/4 inches. Inner cavity dinensions are 3.120 inches in I diameter by 6-1/2 inches high. Shielding is composed of a 2-inch ll gi i

thick isostatically oressed and sintered tungsten alloy containing 95%

l i

tunqsten, 3.5% nickel, and 1.5% f ron, with a 1/4-inch type 304L t

(' stainless steel cladding outside and a 1/8-inch type 304L stainless ,1 l

I steel cladding inside. The gasketed lid consists of a 150-pound I I

l' flange to which the top shield plug is attached and is held in place by eight S/8-inch studs and bolts. A capped 1-inch pipe is welded to l

[ the underside of the cesk lid to position the contents. The gross g weight of the basic cask is 381 pounds. 1; j!I l ll A tungsten insert personnel shield and shipping pallet are used for I 3

ll shipping radioactive materials having higher internal heat loads and I l' external radiation levels. The gross weight of the cask, insert, heat g shield, and skid is 565 pounds, t f I ji ll (3) Drawings I I

l' I 1 The packaging is constructed in accordance with Oak Ridge National Laboratory Drawings No fi-11575-E'i-001-E-Pev. 3, X3D-ll575-002 Rev. O, l l and X3D-11575-003 Rev. 4.
