NOTIFICATION OF SIGNIFICANT ENFORCEMENT ACTION N
Licensee:
Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Calvert Cliffs, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-317, 50-318
Subject:
PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTY - $50,000 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) will be issued on or about Se.otember 26, 1985 to Baltimore Gas and Electric Company. This action is based on the licensee's failure to implement and maintain the installed upgraded post-accident sampling system.
It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The Regional Administrator has been authorized by the Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement, to sign this action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:
Mailing of Notice September 26, 1985 Telephone Notification of Licensee September 26, 1985 A news release has been prepared and will be issued about the time the licensee receives the Notice. The State of Maryland will be notified.
The licensee has thirty days from the date of the Notice in which to respond.
Following NRC evaluation of the response, the civil penalty may be remitted, mitigated, or imposed by Order.
