Dear Ms. Borland:
'I'am responding to your March 24, 1997, letter requesting the immediate i termination of Quality Assurance Program Approval Number 0853. 'Your letter states that it'is your understanding that by taking this action, you will avoid the annual fee for the second half of FY 1997. . The approval was 1t erminated April 3, 1997.
One of the proposed changes in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's license fee regulations in 10 CFR Part 171 for FY 1997 (copy enclosed) is to assess the annual fee for licenses that are terminated during the fiscal year but prior to the anniversary month of the license upon termination for the fee in effect '
at'the time of the billing. .As provided'in 10 CFR 171.17, licenses for which termination requests are filed during the period October 1 through March 31 of the fiscal year are assessed one-half of the annual fee. ;
Based on the above, Laurel Technologies, Inc., will be assessed 50 percent of I the annual fee under fee Category 10B(1) for FY 1997 for QA-0853. The bill will be issued either in July 1997, based on the anniversary month, or upon issuance of the final rule revising the billing for terminated licenses, whichever occurs first.
