A recent survey of material licensees indicates that you do not have a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved quality assurance program.
If you conduct activities under the General Licenses of Subpart C of 10 CFR Part 71, a quality assurance program approved by the Commission as satisfying the provisions of Subpart H of 10 CFR Part 71 is required.
The essential elements of a quality assurance progran acceptable to the staff is contained in Annex 3 of NRC Regulatory Guide 7.10. This annex identifies guidance specifically applicable to users of radiographic exposure davices for activities related to procurenent, use, repair, and transport of packages. Regulatory Guide 7.10 can be obtained by contacting TIOC, Publication Services Section, Office of Administration, NRC, liashington, D.C. 20555.
Unless an exemption is provided by 10 CFR Part 170.11, an application fee of $150.00 for evaluation of your quality assurance progran as specified in 10 CFR 170.31.10(f) must accompany your request. Your reouest should be nade to Charles E. MacDonald, Chief, Transoortation Certification Branch, NHSS.
