OF MARCH 28, 1997 MEETING WITH THE NUCLEAR l ENERGY INSTITUTE (NEI) REGARDING NEI*S ORGANIZATION I AND ROLE On March 28, 1997, senior managers of NEI met with senior managers of the Nuclear  :

Regulatory Commission (NRC) at the NEI offices in Washington, DC. Attachment 1  !

provides a list of meeting attendees.

1 NEI requested to meet with the NRC senior managers in order to provide an overview I of their organization and the role they play in the nuclear industry. After a brief  !

introduction by Mr. Joe Colvin,- the President and Chief Executive Officer of NEI, i each of NEI's key managers described their organization and associated responsibilities. Attachment 2 provides the organization charts and briefing slides used in this presentation.

At the conclusion of the briefing, Mr. Callan and Mr. Colvin both expressed the importance of maintaining good lines of comunication between the NRC and NEI.

Mr. Callan recognized the important role NEI plays in gathering candid information from the nuclear industry and providing it to the NRC.
