FIRE PROTECTION -' CHANGES TO THE APPENDIX R ALTERNATE SAFE SHUTDOWN METHOD This letter is to notify the NRC that_several minor changes have been made to the alternate safe shutdown method at Big Rock Point. The alternate safe shutdown method for Big Rock Point was approved by the NRC as documented in its Safety Evaluation Report (SER) dated March 8,'

Relocation of the alternate shutdown panel was approved bv NRC letter dated March 26, 1985. In addition to the relocation of the alternate safe shutdown panel, several minor changes to the alternate safe shutdown method, as described in the March 8, 1983 SER, have subsequently been made. An evaluation of these changes has been performed and the conclusion derived from that evaluatior. is that the changes are in conformance to 10CFR50.48 and Appendix R, and that they do not decrease the ability to safely shut down the plant by alternate methods. A letter describing these minor changes will be submitted-in the near future.
