Dear Mr. Keppler:
Reference (a) identified a violation relative to the-generation / preparation of Inservice Inspection Drawings (456/85-007-08; 457/85-007-08).
Reference (b) provided Commonwealth Edison's (Ceco) response to that violation.
The NRC documented in Reference (c) a review of our response and the actions we took to clarify our procedure.
The inspector's review resulted in three factors requiring further
. attention.
The purpose of this letter is to address the NRC review.
Project Construction has issued a clarification letter to Phillips, Getschow concerning the use of the "ISI Checklist".
The letter clarifies that Phillips Getschow engineering personnel preparing PSI isometric drawings shall utilize this checklist in the preparation of these same drawings.
This checklist is an aid to the drawing preparer to insure checklist attributes are included on the PSI drawings.

The accuracy of the PSI drawings is assured through the following:
a)
PSI Coordinators review of the drawings for conformance with preservice conditions.
b)
Examination crews "walkdown" the drawings while performing the baseline volumetric and surface examinations.
c)
In some cases, contractor and fabricator (Phillips, Getschow Company and Southwest Fabrication) surface examination reports are utilized for baseline examinations.
The accuracy of these items is assured by the PSI Coordinator through the verification of the contractor's and fabricator's weld number to the corresponding PSI weld number as delineated on the PSI Drawing Weld Numbering List.
