l This letter acknowledges receipt of your letters dated October 24, 1996, and l January 27, 1997, which transmitted Revisions 18 and 18a to the River Bend Station Physical Security Plan for the hand geometry biometrics system, l submitted under the provisions of 10 CFR 50.54(p). I Based on your determination that the changes do not decrease the overall effectiveness of your security plan and after limited review of the changes, no Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval is required, in accordance with 50.54(p). Implementation of thase changes will be subject to inspection to confirm that the changes have not decreased the overall effectiveness of your security plan.

The enclosures to your letters contain Safeguards Information of a type specified in 10 CFR 73.21 and will be withheld from public disclosure.
