This is an attirmation/ discussion session.

have two items planned for action this afternoon.

I will ask 5

the Secretary to lead us through the two items.

6 SECRETARY CHILK:

Before we go that, Mr. Chairman, I

wonder if the Commission will vote to hold these two items,

85-338A dealing with Pilgrim and 85-370 dealing with Fort 9

St. Vrain on less than one week's notice.

10 CHAIRMAN PALLADINO:

This having to do with equipment 11 qualification.

i 12 SECRETARY CHILK:

This has to do with equipment 13 qualifications.

15 SECRETARY CHILK:

The first one is85-370, an order 16 regarding equipment qualification extension of a November 30, 17 1985 deadline for Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Generating Station.

18 The Commission here is being asked to act on the 19 order responding to a request to extend the deadline for 20 environment qualification of Fort St.

Vrain Nuclear Generating 21 Station from November 30, 1985 to May 31, 1986.

22 The Commission is also being asked to empower the 23 director of NRR to authorize operation of Port St. Vrain at up 24 to 35 percent of full nower through May 31, 1986.

I 25 The Director's authority would be contingent upon l

4 finding that the confirmatory submittals from the licensee are l

2 acceptable.

3 All Commissioners have approved the extension of the 4

EQ deadline to May 31, 1986 and to empower the Director of NRR 5

to authorize contingent on a tinding that the confirmatory 6

submittals are acceptable the operation of Fort St. Vrain at 7

up to 35 percent of full power through May 31, 1986.

The second item is 85-338A.

It 11 deals with the environmental qualification extension request 12 for Pilgrim.

13 The Commission here is being asked to act on an 14 order responding to a request also to extend from November 30, 15 1985 to February 8,

1986 the deadline for environmental 16 qualification at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.

17 The Chairman, Commissioners Bernthal and Asselstine 18 disapprove the extension of the EQ deadline.

19 Commissioner Roberts and Zech would extend the time 20 trame for documentation.

Commissioner Zech wou;d also extend 21 the tima frame for equipment testing.

22 The exact wording of the order will be coorcinated 23 with Commission ottices since we have not had it betere you 24 prior to approval.
