Folker, Vogtle Project Quality Assurance Engineer, informed Mr.
M.
V. Sinkule of the USNRC - Region II of a potentially reportable condition concerning Dresser Industries Diaphragm Valves (Figure. 3050 Y-Pattern).
Dresser I'ndustries reported that unanticipated operating conditions with unequal forces may cause the disc cap to stick in any position, thereby not allowing the disc to move.
Sixty-eight (60) valves of the above type have been installed or identified for installation in Units 1 and 2 of the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant.
At this time Georgia Power Company is conducting a review to determine if the potential failure of any of these valves could affect the-safe operation of the plant.
At this time, Georgia Power Company expects to-inform the NRC of the results of _this evaluation on or before. February 28, 1986.
