NPF-38-172 p
- Gentlemen:
q
.l In response _ to an NRC request for additional information concerning the subject
~ Technical Specification (TS) change request, Waterford 3 incorporated a surveillance requirement that was previously omitted. The NRC had requested additional.
Information regarding TS 4.8.1.1.2a.4; specifically, why the proposed change did not contain a requirement to perform a fast start test of the diesel generators at least once b
every.184 ~ days. The Waterford 3 response (letter dated July 17,1996) indicated the following: "Waterford 3 has determined that a fast start test should be performed every 184 days and has modified the proposed arnendment to require this testing."
. However, the change request (letter dated July 17,1996) included this requirement as CTS 4.8.1.1.2a.7. This resulted in a format dit.crepancy. The 184 day fast start test -
- requirement should have been incorporated as 4.8.1.1.2d and all subsequent requirements renumbered.- A footnote to requirement 4.8.1.1.2a.5 indicating that it be
- performed immediately following the monthly tart or the 184 day fast start should also j
have been added.
l Therefore, please delete 4.8.1.1.2a.7 and incorporate the 184 day fast start test
- i requirement as 4.8.1.1.2d, renumber the subsequent requirements and add the
' footnote as indicated on the attached.' This is purely an administrative change to correct a format error and has no affect on the no significant hazards evaluation k'
previously provided-W0
