Gentlemen: <

; Action item (1) of Reference (b) requested that licersees review electrical schematic drawings

and logic diagrams against plant surveillance procedures reactor protection systems, EDG J load shedding and sequencing, and actuation logic for the engineered safety features systems  !

to ensure all portions of the logic circuitry is testen to fulfill Technical Specification l' requirements. This is to be accomplished prior to start up from the next refueling commencing '

one year after issuance of the generic letter.

Reference (c) stated that Maine Yankee would complete the initial review for action item (1) of Reference (b) by December 31,1996, and would complete the independent review for action item (1) by February 28,1997.  !

- The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the initial review for action item (1) of Generic >

Letter 96-01 was completed by December 31,1996, and the independent review for action item (1) was completed on February 27,1997.

I Maine Yankee will complete action item (2) of GL 96-01 by modifying current surveillance procedures and developing new surveillance procedures as necessary for complete testing of '

logic circuits prior to startup from the current refueling outage which is expected to end in '

mid-July,1997.
