REFERENCE:

SECY-85-208, Incident Investigation Program, June 10, 1985 Tt. referenced SECY-85-208 directs that one part of the Incident Investigation Pr 2 gram will be a regional-based investigation for events of lesser signifi-O M e in which headquarters technical experts will augment the regional response.

T5ere have been four occasions during the last four months in which headquarters personnel have augmented the regional office in an investigation.

Tt:se are:

Waterford 3 waterhammer event of May 8, 1985. Vernon Hodge, IE, visited the Waterford 3 Plant.on May 20-23, 1985 and investigated this event.

Jalvert Clif fs Unit 1 emergency diesel generator interpolar connector sr failures cf May 14, 1985. Vince Thomas, IE, visited the Calvert Ceiffs site on June 25 to evaluate generic aspects of this problem.

Ir Formation gathered on this site visit was used in the preparation of IE Information Notice 85-68, " Diesel Generator Failure at Calvert Cliffs Nu lear Station Unit 1," of August 14, 1985. -

- Rana o Seco RCS vent line break of June 23, 1985. Howard Wong, IE, visited the Rancho Seco Plant on July 1-3 and investigated this event.

This trip is reported in the Rancho Seco resident inspector's report No. En-19 of August 22, 1985.
