Technical Specifications (TS) for operation of the Byron Station, Unit Nos.1

and 2, located in Ogle County, Illinois and Braidwood Station, Unit Nos. I and 2, located in Will County, Illinois. The amendments are effective as of the date of issuance and shall be implemented within 45 days.

The amendments modified +.he TSs to allow the licensee to take credit, on a temporary basis, for soluole boron in the spent fuel storage pool water in

maintaining an acceptable margin of subcriticality.

The application for the amendments complies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendments.

The Comaission has prepared an Environmental Assessment related to the j

action and has determined not to prepare an environmental impact statement.

Based upon the environmental assessment, the Comission has concluded that the issuance of the amendments will not have a significant effect on the quality of the human environment (62 FR 13403).
