D:cket No. 99900900/85-02 Westinghouse Electric Corporation Nuclear Technology Division ATTN: Mr. J. L. Gallagher General Manager Post Office Box 355 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15230-0355 Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. S.'D. Alexander of this office on September 16-17, 1985, of your facility at Forest Hills, Pennsylvania and to the discussions of our findings with Mr. John Martin and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

The purpose of this inspection was to observe high energy line break testing on a 600 HP pump motor and to review the status of your actions in response to our concerns raised in the previous inspection. Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the enclosed report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of an examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

During this inspection, we found the testing observed to be in compliance with the test plan and procedures and with regulatory reouirements.

Deviations noted and anomalies observed were documented and justified, and the test article appeared to function within test requirements during the period observed.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public-Document Room.

Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to discuss them with you.

Sincerely, Un Q
