Dr. J. Nelson Grace, Regional Adaiinistrator 101 Marietta Street, NW, Suite 2900 Atlanta, Georgia 30323

Dear Dr. Grace:

SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLA'JT UNITS 1 AND 2 - NRC-OIE REGION II INSPECTION REPORT 50-327/85-05 AND 50-328/85 SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE TO VIOLATION Enclosed is our supplemental response to R. D. Walk 0r's February 22, 1985, letter to H. G. Parris transmitting IE Inspection Report Nos. 50-327/85-05 and 50-328/85-05 for our Sequoyah Nuclear Plant which cited TVA with one Severity Level IV Violation. Our initial response was submitted to you by J. A. Domer's letter dated March 22, 1985, followed by a supplemental response dated May 10, 1985.

The enclosure to the May 10 letter provided details of a corrective action plan which included a six-month program to collect and interpret 'dTE data.

This six-month review program has been completed, and the results anal.yzed.

Plant management, during the program period, placed a high priority on the timely completion of all M&TE out-of-tolerance cases with emphasis on making the evaluation within a 14-day period. A staff manager was assigned the responsiblity to track the program and make a monthly report of his review to the plant manager. Because of the increased emphasis on the system to resolve the cases, the overall time required to complete the evaluations has been dramatically reduced.

Due to the highly positive results of the review program and the continued strong support of plant management, our goal ir to complete the evaluation of all new cases within an average of 14 working days of receipt on site. The evaluation will include the identification of all equipment affected, a complete history search, and a safety evaluation of all items not resolved in the first 10 working days. We expect to reach these goals by June 1, 1986.

As discussed with, and agreed to by Al Ignatonis of your staff in a telephone conversetion on October 28, 1985, the Mc.vember 1 date for providing a supplemental report should have been November 15, 1985.
