STATUS REPORT FROM THE NRC INCIDENT INVESTIGATION TEAM l
On December 28, 1985, an Incident Investigation Team (IIT) began an inv;stigation of an incident that occurred at Rancho Seco on 12/26/85. The cv:nt includedsa loss of power to the Integrated Control System (ICS), a rmetor trip on high pressure, and a rapid cooldown following the reactor trip. The team completed'its on-site investigation on January 8, 1986,
.cnd is returning to Bethesda,-Md., to continue'its investigation.
Th7 team interviewed all operators directly involved with the event, developed a c;quence of events, developed an equipment quarantine list of failed cquipment, reviewed the trouble-shooting plans for components on the quarantine lict, and conducted extensive technical. discussions of issues directly related to the event. ,All interviews and technical discussions have been transcribed in crder to provide a complete record,of'the investigation.
Tha trouble-shooting will be conducted by the' licensee and monitored by personnel from Region V. The results of the trouble-shooting will be reviewed by the IIT baftre any repair work on the components is initiated. A report of the rn ults of the investigation will be prepared by the team and issued in cid-February 1986.
