SUFFARY OF MEETING WITH ATOMIC Et;EFCY OF CAPADA LIMITED This memorandum provi&s a brief sumary and record of a treeting between nenbers of the NRC staff and representatives n' Atomic Energy of Canada Linited (AECL) at Bethesda on August 12, 1985.
The attendees were:
flichael Spender, AECL George Burbidge, AECL John Hilbern, AECL Colleen Voodhead, NRC/0 ELD Keviri Bu.ke, NRC/IP Cecil Tronas, t'PC/NPR lierhert Berkow, NRC/NRP Robert Carter, NRC/NRR John Dose, NRC/NRR The purpose of the reeting was to explore the possibility of AErl recuesting the staff to assess the licensability of its SLOWP0kE-? researr.h reactor in the United States. AECL described the reactor, its 'entures, history, operating experience and present status. The likely scope and focus of a licensability study was discussed. The meeting prnvided for a very useful exchange of infonna tion.
Both AECL and the staff agreed to explore several identified issues with their respective management and to comunicate affair, in about one month.
