Dear Mr. Johnston:
As a follow item from the referenced telecon Vermont Yankee is to supply the NRC with a summary of the power supplies feeding certain strip chart recorders that would be utilized to reconstruct a plant transient during a post trip review. The attached document provides the requested infor-mation.
If there are any additional questions, please do not hesitate to call.

SUBJECT:
Addendum to Table 1.2-2, Strip Chart Recorders Please find attached an addendum to Table 1.2-2.
This addendum lists various st.ip chart recorders that may be acceptable where sequence-of-events (SOE) or time history analog points are not available.
The main criteria as to the acceptability of these recorders seems to be whether or not they are powered from an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
The strip chart recorders listed in the addendum are powered by VITAL AC 120/240 VAC or by INSTRUMENT AC 120 VAC.
During an LNP there would be a loss of power to MCC 8A and MCC 9A which would result in a loss of power to the INSTRUMENT AC distribution panel.
Power would return after the diesel generators were started and Buses 8 or 9 were reenergized.
Power to the VITAL AC Bus should not be affected during a
LNP.
The loss of power to MCC 8B would cause the VITAL AC MG Set to swap from its AC drive motor to its DC drive motor thus providing a
bumpless transfer of power to the VITAL AC Bus.
With the loss of MCC 8A and..CC 9A,
'the station battery (125 VDC) battery chargers would fail, but the station batteries would continue to provide power to DC-1, DC-2 and DC-3 and thus continue to supply power to the VITAL AC MG Set, DC drivo 1
motor.
