On September 25, 1985 Three Mile Island-Unit One was restarted--under protest from the Harrisburg area community.
I happened to live in the Harrisburg area during the first accident at Three Mile Island on March 28,1979, and I have kept abreact of the events since then.
Recently, Susan O.
Stranahan wrote an article for Science Digest, June 1985, about the actual tempor-atures found at TMI.
In this article, Ms. Stranahan reported about the 1983 findingc of the Idaho National Engineering Laborn-tory (INEL).
If the cupposed maximum temperature allowed in the core at TMI is 25000F, and their findings showed a core temperature of 47000F, why did the the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman in 1979, Joseph Hendric, say that there was no poccible chance of a meltdown?
Even thou6h the IHEL findihga were chancy by just using 1 mm camples from a core that is several hundred meters acrocs, this should prove that TMI is still not cafe.
Ms. Stranahan also reported ghat recent findingo chowed a core temperature of 5100 F. The radiation released at such a high temperature ao uranium dioxide hac not been documented accurately yet.
Dioxin is a known carcinogen and teratogen an evidenced with the accidont at Seveso, Italy in 1976.
Uranium dioxide is co much worce thah dioxin, and overybody in the Harric-burg area was exposed to this poicon.
Who is to take recponcibility for my cancer--with the medical costs, and the psychiatric care because I annot have children?
