50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SON)- FIRE PROTECTION IMPROVEMENT PLAN PERIODIC STATUS REPORT A working meeting between TVA and NRC was held at SQN on August 19,1991, to discuss the self-identified problems in SON's Fire Protection Program and the improvement plan efforts initiated by TVA. As a result of this meeting, TVA agreed to submit periodic status reports to inform NRC on the progress of efforts made in conjunction with the improvement plan.

In the previous periodic status report dated December 1,1995, TVA stated that Phases I, ll, and 111 were complete and the SON Fire Protection Report (Phase IV, item 4-3) was the only outstanding item.

Item 4-3 of Phase IV is as follows, issue the remaining updated design documentation to support the final compilation into the SON Fire Protection Report and establish a process to maintain the documentation current.

The Fire Protection Report has now been issued and as a result, Phase IV was completed on August 29,1996.

This completes the four phases of the Fire Protection improvement Plan and therefore, this will be the final status report for the Fire Protection Improvement Plan. It should be noted that although the four phases of the Fire Protection Improvement Plan are complete, the modification necessary to implement a potable water fire protection system is underway and is not expected to be complete until later this year.
