Dear Sir:
Attached are checks for the Operating License Re~ view fees for Byron Station Units 1 and 2 and Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2.
The amount'shown on the checks do not correspond to those shown on the invoices because Commonwealth Edison believes that the fee schedule published in 43 FR 7219 was effective for the billing period.which extended from commencement of the operating license review until June 23, 1984.
In effect we believe that the fees payable are those shown in 10 CFR 170.21A2 (1984) which stipulate the maximum charges for the billing period as shown below:

To date, the NRC is maintaining

that the new ceilings contained in 10 CFR 170.21A (1985) apply.

The enclosed checks are for payment of the uncontested fees associated with e'ach of the Byron and Braidwood units.
Billing for amounts in excess of the old ceilings for the period ending June 23, 1984 are not acceptable to licensee and are not provided for in the enclosed checks.
