Dear Barbara:

Would you please ammend our USNRC Export Permit XSNM02229 to include 3.1 kg of LEU at 19T75% enrichment as discussed with you by telephone this afternoon. This LEU is being requested on the advice of Dr. J. Matos of ANL. It is to be'~used to fabficate two test LEU silicide assemblies for MNR. As a point of interest _ ._ _

we are currently working with ANL on the development of the optimum LEU fuel assembly design for MNR. Thus, once the silicide fuels have completed their full core testing in the ORR and the . . , , . .

results of the PIE's are known, we will be in a position to begin TGj converting to LEU fuel should the full fuel cycle economics prove  %

to be reasonable.
