SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCEE At the beginning of the month the plant was in a Refueling Shutdown. Sttrtup, scheduled for 15 October, was delayed for Functional Testing of instrumentation and repair of a leak in the Primary Component Cooling system. On 22 October at 0752, the Reactor was made critical and' Low Power Physics ~ Testing was begun. On 23 October at 2040, the Reactor tripped on Low Level in the #3 Steam G:nerator. On 24 October at 0603, the-Unit was Phased-to-Grid for the first time since the 1985 Refueling Outage began. On 24 October at 1000, the Unit was removed from the Grid and the Reactor chutdown to make repairs to the #2 Reactor Coolant Pump Backstop Device. On 25 October at 1248, the Unit was Phased-to-Grid and a power increase was started. On 25 October at 1723, the Reactor and Unit tripped from 25% power when a Rupture Disk failed, allowing the #1 Excess Flow Check Valve to close. On 26 October at 0730, the Unit'was Phased-to-Grid and power increased to 30%. On 26 October at 2302, While soaking at 30% power, the Reactor and Unit tripped when a Rupture Disk failed, allowing the #3 Excess Flow Check Valve to close. On 27 October at 0850, the Unit was Phased-to-Grid and a power increase was otarted. On~2G October at 0640, power was stabilized at 48% for Power Range Physics Tcsting. On 29 October at 1840, a power increase from 48% to maximum was started. On 31 October at 0356, a load reduction from 90% power was started due to a Turbine Load Rejection. The #2 Governor Valve closed unexpectantily from 58% open to 14% open, and the #4 Governor went fully closed from 10% open. Power stabilized at 76%. Tho plant was at 76% power the remainder of the month.
