Dear Mr.- Denton:

Reference (b) contained the initial response to Generic Letter 83-28-Item 1.2 for Zion Station. Reference (c) transmittad the NRC's draft TER on the item and was the basis for a telecon on August 29, 1985. During the telecon we promised to provide additional information; attached are the following documents:

1. Updated listings of digital ID descriptions (table 2 in original submittal) and all sequence of events digitals t (table 1 in original submittal)
2. -The station abbreviation list
3. A description of the post trip program which is being developed

Additionally, the following information was confirmed af ter the telecon.

1. The four analog points P1000, P1001, P1002, and P1003 for containment pressure are wide range.
2. Containment radiation is analog point R002.
3. The new reactor trip program is scheduled to be implemented around 07-01-86.

Zion Station Post Trip /S.O.E. open items After our conference call with the NRC on August 29, 1985, there were still a few issues which needed looking into. Listed below are these issues and what we have found in regards to them.

1. There was a question as to whether the four analog point
I.D.s we have for containment pressure (P1000,P1001, l P1002, P1003) were for wide range, the answer is yes, i all four are fed by wide range instrumentation.
2. At the time of the meeting, we could not find an analog point that measured containment radiation. We have since found that such a point does exist, R0002 (CONTAINMENT AREA 2 RADIATION), and is wired.

3. Updated listings of digital point I.D. descriptions (table 2 in the original NRC document) and all sequence of events digitals (table 1 in the original NRC document) have been made and are included, l

5. Design of the new Post Reactor Trip program is included.

POST-REACTOR TRIP REVIEW PROGRAM It has been decided that in order to meet the Post Trip Review requirements of Generic Letter 83-28, a program on the Process computers should be written. The review criteria that the NRC has developed are as follows: A. The parameters to be used are those deemed by the NRC as "necessary to perform an adequate post-trip review". See attached list of analog Process point ids. B. Each analog point I.D. should have a sample interval of 10 sec. C. Each analog point I.D. should be capable of updating and retaining information from approximately five minutes prior to the reactor trip until at least ten minutes after the trip. D. The information gathered by the sequence-of-events and time history data collectors should be stored in a manner that will allow for data retrieval and analysis In order to accomplish these objectives, the program on the Process computers will consist of a " rolling window" of the desired Process points. Information on these points will be stored for a consecutive five minutes. A reactor trip will " freeze" the window and information will be gathered for .n additional ten minutes. At the end of the time interval the stored information will be output in report format to the lineprinter in the Process computer room, and as raw data to the Prime computer. The points to be included in the program are those listed in the sheets " ANALOG POINTS FOR POST-REACTOR TRIP REVIEW". Each point has a scan rate of ten seconds or less. A reactor trip shall be defined as when sequence-of-events points YD0006 (REAC MAIN TRP BKR A) or YD0007 (REAC MAIN TRP BKR B) reach a TRIP state or YD0004 or YD0005 (REACTOR MANUAL TRIP) reach a RX TRIP state. The report that will be printed will list the point ID., des-cription, time, units, and value. This report will be retained in printed or microfilm form. The data that will be sent to the Prime computer will provide a backup of the post-trip information ! which can be retrieved in the event of a lineprintor failure, or be used for further analysis after the reactor trip occurs, i t Y
