WMEG REVIEW 0F THE REVISED DOE UMTRA PROJECT SURVEILLANCE AND MAINTENANCE PLAN (SEPT, 1985)
As per your request (TAR # WM-85861) dated September 25, 1985, WMEG has reviewed the subject document in light of our comments provided to the DOE on the draft Plan (June 14,1985) and in light of the NRC/ DOE meeting held in the Willste Building on June 13, 1985. The specific issues raised by WMEG have been addressed by the DOE in this plan. However, the plan does not mention the condition to which the pile will be restored when repair actions are performed. In a teiephone conversation (10/9/85) between Mr. Steve Smykowski (WMEG) and Mr. Dave Lechel (TAC), Mr. Lechel indicated it is DOE's intent to restore the pile to a condition that will assure long-term compliance with the EPA standards.
It is our recomendation that the DOE include a statement in the plan indicating their intention.
