-b December 10, 1985 76pg Mr. James L. Montgomery, Chief Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards Branch U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 1450 Maria Lane, Suite 210 Walnut Creek, CA 94596 License No. SNM-1227 Docket No. 70-1257

Dear Mr. Montgomery:

NRC INSPECTION Ref:

(1) Letter and Attachments, J. L. Montgomery to C.

W.

Malody, dated November 25, 1985.

The reason for the procedural difference noted in Appendix A of your letter referenced above was that we had been using a limit of 10 working days for completing and distributing the Nuclear Material Transaction Reports on the DOE /NRC Form 741 rather than the 10 calendar days noted by your staff.

On November 1,1985, w a adopted a working limit of 10 calendar days in which to complete and distribute the appropriate Nuclear Material Transaction Report.

We believe that ti.is corrective action will avoid any future instances of our exceeding the 10 calendar limit for completing and distribu-ting the Nuclear Material Transaction Reports. We believe that we have been in full compliance since November 1, 1983.

We trust that this response is satisfactory to you.

Sincerely, C. W. Malody, Mana r Corporate Licensing g [Nf, 7 CWM:jrs 10 C
