Dear Mr. Norelius:
On November 26, 1985 Inspection Report (99901015/85-01) was issued for Exo Sensors Inc., of Anaheim California who is a supplier of hydrogen sensors, analyzers and other instrumentation. This inspection determined that significant deficiencies exist in the implementation of the Exo Sensors Quality Assurance Program which should have been identified during Utility Quality Assurance audits and source inspections at their facility.
Toledo Edison reviewed this report and researched our procurement records to determine the extent of activity with Exo Sensors Inc., as implied in the Inspection Report. This review has disclosed that no nuclear safety related ("Q") purchase orders have been issued to Exo Sensors Inc. for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. 1.
This was confirmed through a conversation on December 18, 1985 with Mr. F. Rudek, Exo Sensors Quality Assurance Manager, who further stated that their company was formed in 1980 and showed no records for nuclear safety related procurements with Toledo Edison Company.
Toledo Edison concludes that no nuclear safety related equipment was procured from Exo Sensors Inc. during construction or after commercial operation of Davis-Besse.
Exo Sensors Inc. is not maintained on the Toledo Edison Evaluated Vendors List as an acceptable supplier of nuclear safety related material.
