Three-Hile Island Unit 2 Utility-Industry Comnittee on Neac tor Core Condit, ion Surnary of Working Group Meeting __on Pellet Condi_ti,ons, The working group meeting on Pellet Conditions renched the louing highlight ccrnclusions and reco::rnendations for future work ulting from the Working Croup discussions, Because of the limited opportunity that fuel miting could have occurred, bcsed on heat transfer boundary limitations, little active concern should be spent on this arcs.

Based on noble gas fission product rolcase, fuci penk temperatures could have been in region of $1700-18000C.

The high core oTs (and calculated APs12 psi) in some regions indicate cignificant mechanical fuel and/or cladding redistribution leading to locally high flow resistances.

For purposes of determining fuel conditions, new primary coolant sample analyses are not needed under current conditions because these samples may not be representative of bulk because ofcoolant activity chemistry levcis (campic cnd upstream line cannot be cleared firstfilters may be piogged - preventing proper samplin of some solids). .

Soma suggested tests .

tests?

- Can neutron sources be used for subcritieni

- Can single control rod be moved in region of hottest assys?

- Thru use of existing self-powered neutron detectorsfuel and ex-core monitors, can information on axial /rndial relocation be obtained thru the above tests 7 .
