50-424/84-36, 50-425/84-36 l Attention: Mr. J. Nelson Grace On June 14, 1985 Georgia Power Company submitted some supplemental information (GN-641) to our response to USNRC Inspection Report 50-424, '

425/84-36. In the portion of this supplemental information dealing with Violation 50-424, 425/84-36-03, Georgia Power Company indicated that a sampling program to determine the acceptability of previously installed pipe supports requiring the use of manufacturer instructions was expected to be completed and the results reported to the USNRCJ)

August 30, 1985. taken from a population The statistical of pipe sample supports forincluded which the evaluation was/ elated both safety-and non-safety-related applications. This random sample resulted in a larger than expected number of non-safety-related supports. In order i to obtain the most accurate representation of Pullman Power Products' L quality control program, additional samples were taken of supports in I safety-related applications. Because of this, we were unable to complete ,

the evaluation within the schedule established in our earlier  ;

correspondence. [

Georgia Power Company wishes to defer transmittal of our report t to the USNRC on this matter until September 20, 1985. We apologize for this inadvertent delay.

This response contains no proprietary infonnation and may be placed i in the NRC Public Document Room.
