I Transportation Certification Branch Approval Record liodel No. WAPD-40 Packaging Docket No. 71-5874 By application dated September 9,1985. EG&G Idaho, Inc. requested an anendment to Certificate of Compliance No. 5874 to authorize additional contents with an H to X atomic ratio greater than currently authorized.

The applicant considered the increase in H to X atomic ratio concluding that subcriticality is assured by limiting the contents to 70 grams U-235.

In addition, the applicant has considered the potential for gas generation within the packaging from decomposition of the small quantity of epoxy present. The conservative estimate of maxinum internal pressure is well below the stated design criteria of 2890 psia.

Based on the above, we conclude that the package meets the requirements of 10 CFR Part 71.
