HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION INDEPENDENT DESIGN VERIFICATION PROGRAM DOCKET NO. 50-354 The final report of the Hope Creek Independent Design Verification was issued by Sargent and Lundy on August 30, 1985.
Copies of this report were subiaitted directly to the NRC in accordance with the Program Plan.
The conduct of the IDVP was governed by a Protocol which was specified in Sargent and Lundy's Program Plan.
The purpose of the Protocol was to assure the necessary independence of Sargent and Lundy from Bechtel and PSE&G so the IDVP could be performed as intended.
With the issuance of the final report, all pertinent matters relating to the IDVP are part of the public record and available for audit, and it there-fore appears that a continuance of the protocol is unneces-sary.
Further, with the effort being placed by PSE&G and Bechtel on closing out the follow-up items, and in support of the upcoming NRC audits, it could be unduly burdensome to continue to operate under the protocol.
It is theref ore requested that the Hope Creek IDVP Protocol be formally dissolved as soon as practical.
