C0AL COMBUSTION BYPRODUCTS AND MINE RECLAMATION
Dear Mr. Crawford:
Thank you for sending information on Wallace Industries and the potential of using coal combustion byproducts (CCB's) in mine reclamation. The NRC is charged with the task of reviewing work proposed by the Department of Energy (DOE) on abandoned uranium mill tailings sites, and work proposed by licensees on uranium mill tailings sites undergoing closure.
For this reason, our staff performs reviews of designs prepared by others.
You may wish to contact directly the DOE Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action Program Office in Albuquerque, New Mexico, or any of the affected NRC licensees regarding the potential for use of CCB's on their respective sites.
