Dresden Station's Verification of Key Parameters for Twelve Risk Significant Systems.
NRC Docket Numbers50-010,50-237, and 50-249.
Reference:
(1) J. S. Peny Letter to A. Bill Beach, dated November 8,1996, transmitting Plans for Verifying the Design of Dresden Station.
(2) A. Bill Beach Letter to J. S. Perry dated November 21,1996, transmitting Confirmatory Action Letter.
The purpose of this letter is to transmit the " Verification of Key Parameters for Twelve Risk Significant Systems" report. This report was written to address our commitment in the " Actions to Ensure Current Status of Key Safety Systems" of Reference (1). This action states:
"An immediate screening will be performed of key parameters on twelve systems most important from a risk perspective. This s:reening will include a review of key operating parameters against existing sprem calculations to verify that calculations support those parameters, The screening will be performed by a dedicated team of senior experienced engineering personnel brought in from outside of Comed, supported by appropriate Comed system and design engineering personnel. This screening will be completed by February,1997."
The subsequent action, on an ongoing basis, is to perform the design basis and calculation validation and/or reconstitution for the subject twelve systems described in this report.
This effort will ensure that design information and calculations support systems functional and tes*ing requirements, as stated in " Actions to Verify Adequacy and Retrievability of Design Basis" of the Reference (1).
