Dear Mr. Wagstaff:
I am responding to your letter of November 15, 1996, to Gary Holahan regarding the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) participation to the Fire and Safety Conference that will be held during the period of 24-26 February 1997 in London, England.
Due to resource limitations and competing priorities, the NRC Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) will not be able to support the conference. Therefore, the NRR staff will not submit a paper for the conference proceedings nor does it plan to attend the conference.
I communicated this decision to James Varley, editor of Nuclear Engineering International, by electronic mail on December 2,1996.
I appreciate the fact that you considered NRR as a potential conference participant.
I invite you to inform us of future nuclear power plant fire safety conference for our consideration.
